Are you telling me you can't clothe yourself for less than $200? I agree about not taxing used clothes and I like the cap. what I want to know is what is being done with the new tax revenue? if the choice is smaller teacher/student ratios or no tax on clothes, then bring on the clothes tax, but if we're building bridges to nowhere then forget it. Reform how taxes are spent alongside the quantity and method of taxation.

I agree with Yarosh that the current 6th grade disparity is largely the result of a hastily implemented structure change. I would like to see some effort on the part of the school board or the district office to decrease the animosity between parents. Also, the Sun-Sailor reporter Seth Rowe seems to add to the fracture by propagating an "us vs them" dialog. The inequalities between the Immersion program and the traditional education program is only one area where improvements can be made for the benefit of the whole community. This is not the only fixable problem, and dismantling the immersion program will not improve the experience of every other child, it's just a distracting issue that draws attention away from the bigger picture. It's like politicians in an election year talking about abortion, gay marriage and gun laws so the real issues don't get discussed.
