On the article Woodbury Roads Going to Pot Sooner Than Expected: ‘City Engineer’s Nightmare’

ReplyIt's not just the roads that are in bad shape. Some of the park trails are crumbling, too, and, while not the city's problem, some of the parking lots around town are unbelieveable. Sam's Club's lot is ridiculous!

ReplyWhat recourse does a homeowner, who lives on a street that used this mix and was assessed to pay for it, have? They didn't have a say in what mix was used.

The City would also have to amend the law to allow alcohol sales at Bielenberg. It's specifically prohibited now (Sec. 16.59(e)).

ReplyThis ain't a "waterpark"--yet. It is, for the most part, a youth sports complex, and most of those don't have booze.

ReplyWouldn't "food service carts in the surrounding fields" cut in on the action that the athletic associations have (and the high school PSO when they can get it)? Also, who thinks it's a good idea to have alcohol on the premises with kids around (er, wait a minute....let me think about that one)?

Looks like more ugliness is forecast. From today's East Ridge announcements: "Next week on Tuesday, May 21st and Thursday, May 23rd, East Ridge will be hosting the Suburban East Conference track meet. These events will begin at 2:30pm and will generate up to an extra 3,000+ people on the campus during these dates. As we are already experiencing delays with one exit closed, we appreciate your patience and planning ahead assuring the safety of all involved. These dates are bound to bring more congestion and need for more patience as we work to ensure a safe and efficient exit from the campus." Maybe we get Woodbury PD to do some manual traffic control to work through this (bill it back to the savants at Washington County if need be).

ReplyWell, duh, who didn't think that was going to happen? Wait until the next phase when all that St. Ambrose traffic cuts through Wedgewood Park. Also, sad but ironic that Councilman Scoggins is all of a sudden concerned because she had to wait and couldn't get out of a driveway due to traffic, but has no problem with homeowners in Wedgewood Valley having to wait trying to turn out of Antrim Dr. after the road is finished. Nice.

Ok, Kris, I think I have a solution that fixes several issues: we just need Chuck E Cheese to revamp their format in to an indoor waterpark/"splash" park that has a winebar for the discriminating parent, and the Force will once again be in balance in Woodbury.

So the city's water ninnies carve out yet another exception for Parks and Rec while wagging a finger at the rest of us. Swell.
