Garden Thieves Strike Linden Hills Yet Again

Plants spared, furniture taken instead.

In the latest installment of the mysterious Linden Hills garden thefts, one house on the 4600 block and another on the 4700 block of Vincent Avenue South had solar-powered walkway lights and patio furniture stolen Saturday night.  Numerous houses have seen thousands of dollars of plants pilfered over the last few months. Some houses have been hit more than once, by thieves who appear well-enough-versed in horticulture to almost surgically remove specific, valuable plants.  The first such crime this summer ocured in the early hours of May 30.

Punches, Purses Fly In Lyndale

Revenge seems to have been the motive.

A 27-year-old resident had invited a friend to her apartment on the 3500 block of Nicollet Avenue the afternoon of April 23. But the friends started an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation, with the two pushing each other and both landing punches to the face. Eventually the friend grabbed the Nicollet Avenue resident’s purse, containing a wallet and $50 cash, and fled on foot. When police responded to the resident’s call they found her with a cracked fingernail, bleeding from its base. She declined medical attention. Until convicted, all people listed by police as suspected of committing a crime or listed as charged with a crime by county, state, or federal prosecutors should be considered innocent. Kingfielder Leaves Car Doors Unlocked, Reports Theft

Southwest Minneapolis police responded to several burglary calls this week.

A few run-ins with Southwest Minneapolis thieves led one Kingfield resident, possibly out of frustration, to try a rather counterintuitive solution: leaving his car unlocked when he has valuables inside. According to his theory, as he told police, if no-one had to smash a window to get at pricey equipment, then he would only be out the cost of what was stolen. On Mar. 5, intentionally or unintentionally, the man's theory was recently put to the test. The man parked his car in his driveway on the 3900 block of Pleasant Ave.—computer inside—and forgot about the whole thing for a week. On March 12, he checked his car and found the computer missing but the car undamaged.
