The resident of an apartment on the 100 block of West 33rd Street woke to find her door had been kicked in while she slept. A stolen vehicle was recovered, parked on the 4900 block of Morgan Ave South. The car was towed to the Minneapolis Impound Lot until its owners could claim it. Angry at her parents, a 17-year old girl decided to spend the night at her boyfriend's house rather than returning to her parents' home on the 3900 block of 1st Ave South. The parents reported the girl missing, but she returned home. The girl was cited for running away from home…

Bus Stop Robbery Suspect Arrested

Man is suspected in Kingfield, St. Louis Park robberies.

The following is an announcement from the Minneapolis Police Department. Osborne is also the suspect in a pair of St. Louis Park robberies in February:  On March 1, 2013, Louis Larell Osborne 11/18/92 was arrested for a robbery that occurred on the 600 block of 8th St SE in Minneapolis on February 28, 2013. A male victim was waiting for a bus when he was approached by the suspect, demanded his belongings and brandished a gun. The loss included the victim’s wallet, cell phone and backpack which contained a laptop. Through cooperation with other agencies and thorough investigation, Osborne was charged with the robbery. Osborne is a suspect in three robberies in the Fifth Precinct (2 at 46th St W/Bryant Av S and 53rdSt W/Xerxes Av S). He is …

Washburn Student Assaults Teacher

A roundup of crimes and incidents reported to the Minneapolis Police Department Mar. 5 and 6.

Mar. 5 A 15-year old Washburn High School student "physically assaulted" one of the school's teacher at 1p.m. The teacher declined medical attention, and the boy was booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center. Police patrolling the 100 block of East 35th Street around midnight stopped a young-looking man who appeared to be out past curfew. The man turned out to be 25, but had an outstanding warrant. The man was booked into the Hennepin County Jail. A 26-year old man was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on domestic assault charges after police were called to the apartment he shares with his 25-year old girlfriend on the 3500 block of Pleasant Ave South around 8:30 a.m. A 71-year old man called police to report he lost his…

Cup of Coffee Costs Man His Car

A thief takes advantage of a moment of inattentiveness at Lyndale neighborhood gas station.

Early on the morning of Mar. 1, a driver pulled into the gas station on the corner of Nicollet Ave and 35th Street for what would prove to be a very expensive refreshment, according to a report filed by Minneapolis police officers. It was just after 4 a.m. as the 31-year old pulled up to pump number two at the Super America and got out of his car. He strode across the apron to the station's convenience store, but left his car running—it was late, and he wanted a cup of coffee to ward off the pre-dawn darkness. He wouldn't be gone long. SLP, SW Minneapolis Bus Stop Robberies Linked

Suspect has struck at least four times in two months.

A pair of armed robberies at bus stops in St. Louis Park and Southwest Minneapolis may be related, according to the Southwest Journal. The robberies occurred on Jan. 17 and Feb. 13 at the intersection of 46th Street and Bryant Ave South in Minneapolis, on Feb. 20 at the corner of Minnetonka Boulevard and Colorado Avenue in St. Louis Park, and on Feb. 21 at the corner of Minnetonka Boulevard and Hampshire Avenue in St. Louis Park. The victims in each case gave very similar descriptions of the man who mugged them: a young black man, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, wearing a dark-colored mask and hoodie or puffy jacket, brandishing a pistol. Elderly Man Mugged in Kingfield

A roundup of crimes reported to the Minneapolis Police Department Feb. 26-28.

Feb. 26 A 74-year old man was mugged by a passenger in his car while the vehicle sat at the intersection of West 39th Street and Garfield Ave South. The suspect forcibly relieved the man of his wallet and car. Burglars struck a home on the 3100 block of 1st Ave South overnight. Thieves visited a car driven by a 67-year old Robbinsdale woman, while the vehicle was parked at the Lake Harriet Bandshell. A shoplifter at Cub Foods was booked into the Hennepin County Jail after routine checks showed the 31-year old Shakopee woman had two outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants. Burglaries strike Southwest Minneapolis.

Feb. 22 A 35-year old Lyndale neighborhood resident told police that someone she knew was sending her threatening text messages. Police classified the messages as a domestic incident. Police received a report that a vulnerable adult living at Walker Methodist Health Center had unspecified items stolen from them on Feb. 20. Police cited a 33-year old Loring Park man for narcotics violations after pulling him over at the intersection of West 40th Street and Wentworth Ave South around 9 p.m. Feb. 23 While on patrol around midnight at the intersection of Lyndale Ave South and West 55th Street, officers cited a 17-year old girl for being out past curfew.  Police pulled a driver over at corner of Bryant Ave South and West 33rd Street just after …

Mystery Thieves Steal More Landscaping Lights Worth Hundreds

A roundup of crimes reported to the Minneapolis Police Department Feb. 19-20.

Thieves once again struck a Southwest Minneapolis home early Wednesday morning, carrying off ornamental outdoor lights for the third time this week. According to a report filed with Minneapolis police, 2 large "landscaping lights" went missing from a house on the 4700 block of Lake Harriet Parkway sometime between 10 p.m. on Feb. 19 and 8 a.m. on Feb. 20. The homeowner told police they were woken up around 3 a.m. by strange noises in their front yard. The lights are worth $685 apiece, according to the polcie report. The house is the third along the rim of Lake Harriet to be thus victimized since Sunday.
