Several streets were blocked off as police searched for suspects.
Shortly after noon on Monday, officers with the Minneapolis Police Department were dispatched to the 3800 block of Aldrich Avenue South on a report of a burglary in progress. According to a report filed by officers with the Minneapolis Police Department, three men forced their way into a home on that block via a rear door. Several neighbors witnessed the event and contacted police. The trio fled with an iPod from the empty house, and officers called in reinforcements. At one point, nine squad cars were involved in cordoning off the 3900 blocks of Aldrich, Lyndale, Garfield, and Harriet Avenues South, according to an email one local block captain sent to Patch. The police report notes that two of the three suspects, both 16 years old, were …

Around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday night, Nov. 24, police were called to an alley behind the 5600 block of 1st Avenue South. A witness had reported a suspected prowler in the alley, but when officers arrived, they discovered two men, neither of whom lived in the area, according to a report filed by officers with the Minneapolis Police Department. The men, a 37-year old Bertha resident and a 19-year old Apple Valley resident, gave conflicting explanations for what they were doing in the alley. Entryway rug is the only reported loss.
Monday night, a very unusual burglar visited an apartment building on the 500 block of West 35th Street. According to a resident of the building, who called police shortly afterwards, an unknown man entered the building's stairwell around 10 p.m. Surprisingly, the nefarious man stopped before he got to any of the doors to the building's units. Instead, he stooped down, scooped up the entry-way rug, and fled. The resident said the man fled in his vehicle. The resident noted that around an hour earlier, he had received delivery of a pizza at the same address, but the report filed by officers with the Minneapolis Police Department didn't elaborate on the pizza's suspicious nature. The incident has been recommended for further investigation…

A roundup of burglaries, thefts, and other major incidents reported to the Minneapolis Police Department from Sept. 11 to 17.
A resident of the 4100 block of Blaisdell Avenue South returned home to find the back door of his house wide open and the kitchen window smashed to pieces on Friday, according to a report filed with officers of the Minneapolis Police Department. As they did an inventory of their belongings, though, they realized that some paper grocery bags were missing from the floor. As there was very little broken glass on the kitchen floor, police surmised that the culprit had cleaned up the broken glass before fleeing. As officers and forensic technicians searched the house, they came up with a potential clue to the burglar’s seemingly-courteous actions: red stains on some glass still embedded in the windowsill that appeared to be dried blood. So far…

A roundup of burglaries, assaults, and other incidents reported to the police from Aug. 25 to Aug. 27.
Is it a case of gardeners run amok? An Kenny resident awoke to what must have been a peculiar sight on Friday morning, when they discovered someone had assaulted their car overnight with a cucumber. The police report did not describe the weapon used, but the fruit was evidently stout enough to break one rearview mirror, and potentially damage the mirror’s housing as well. Presumably, the cucurbit criminal either thought melons too unwieldy for their purpose, or couldn’t find a heavy-enough one in their garden that night.
