A week after getting embroiled in controversy with some allegations against Minneapolis Rep. Keith Ellison, Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann hopes to team up with the Democrat on Medicare reform.
Less than two weeks after she questioned her fellow Minnesota U.S. Representative's ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, Rep. Michele Bachmann (GOP—Stillwater) announced Monday in St. Michael, MN that she's hoping to team up with Rep. Keith Ellison (DFL-Minneapolis) on Medicare reform. In a meeting with St. Michael business owners, Bachmann said she was looking to do bi-partisan work to end Medicare fraud. "Minnesota is the poster child for Medicare fraud. If we're going to have a system, we need a system that works for the poor. Right now, it's not working. I've been in communication with Rep. Ellison and hope to work with him on this issue," she said. Bachmann added that the reform would largely help more people in Ellison's district, but …

Fifth District GOP challenger calls Ellison "radical."
According to Minnesota Public Radio, former Marine officer and GOP congressional candidate Chris Fields called his opponent, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN),"militantly anti-American" in a fundraising email. Fields based his charge on Ellison's votes to cut off funding for the Iraq War and his vote for the Dodd-Frank package of regulations indented to reform the financial sector after the 2008 financial crisis. Fields' fundraising efforts are set to top all of Ellison's previous Republican challengers. The attack comes as Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Ellison trade fire over Bachmann's charge that a Middle Eastern political group called the Muslim Brotherhood had made a "deep penetration" of the American government, which she blamed on …

Bachmann says group has "infiltrated" Obama Administration.
Citing a man who once claimed the National Missile Defense Agency's logo was a sign of "official U.S. submission to Islam" because it included a crescent, Rep. Michele Bachmann last week alleged the Obama administration had been infiltrated by agents of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Brotherhood is an 84-year old political movement active in many countries in the Arab world. The main source of this infiltration, she claimed, was a top aide for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, whose family she said had ties to the Brotherhood. She asked five federal agencies to investigate her allegations. Salon.com reported on Friday that the aide has been targeted by anti-Muslim activists before. On Thursday, Rep. Keith Ellison sent Bachmann an …

Southwest state senator rebuffed in effort to keep MN Medicaid dollars from going to "reparative therapy"
A researcher who helped lay the scientific foundations for the "ex-gay" movement may have just repudiated his work, but that doesn't mean the Minnesota legislature was in any mood to listen. Last week, Southwest Minneapolis' state Sen. Scott Dibble saw his effort to stop state Medicaid money from going to controversial "reparative therapy" stopped cold by his colleagues. The treatment forms the core of some Christian groups' mission, reportedly run by U.S. Rep. Michelle Bachmann's husband. However, mainstream professional bodies like the American Psychological Association reject the notion that lesbian, gay, and bisexual orientations are diseases to be "cured" with either prayer or traditional psychotherapy, but rather a normal part of…

Chief, you are correct.... the United States was founded and succeeded on Judeo-Christian values. Throughout the world, Islam has been responsible for most of the world's ills. Muslims have made no secret of their desire to dominate the world with their flawed ideology. Time to make the US a no-Islam zone. And I support the cities and towns that are trying to keep Islam mosques out of their areas…   more ›
