There will be nine free programs in June at area Hennepin County libraries.
Hennepin County Master Gardeners will share their expertise and horticultural information on a variety of gardening topics at nine free programs in June at Hennepin County libraries. Questions about weeds, soil, seeds, insects, and more? The Master Gardeners will answer your questions or refer you to great sources of information. Master Gardeners are University of Minnesota-trained volunteers who complete at least 48 hours of horticultural education at the university, 12 hours of continuing education, and 50 hours of volunteer service to become a certified Master Gardener. The last nip of winter seems to be hitting Southwest Minneapolis this week, but by next week, it could be gone. That doesn't necessarily mean your gardening this year will be all plain sailing. “We’re still in a moisture deficit, a drought,” says Terry Straub, Hennepin County Master Gardener program coordinator, so gardeners will need to be as attentive as ever to their gardens.
