At Linden Hills' Reindeer Night, Adults Join in Reindeer Games Too

This Friday, Linden Hills will host the first-ever Reindeer Night. Local stores will offer special deals, holiday treats and activities for the above 3-foot-tall crowd.

For the first time ever, Linden Hills is adding Reindeer Night to the neighborhoods ever-popular annual Reindeer Day event. Reindeer Night will feature treats, discounts and carolers to create a festive atmosphere designed for adults. The Linden Hills Business Association asked Wintercraft—which has been supplying beautiful ice lanterns to holiday events for three decades—to help decorate Linden Hills for the holidays. "We're lighting Reindeer Night with lanterns, globes and luminaries made of ice," said Sara Johnson, an employee at Wintercraft. "The look will be very organic and ethereal." Southwest Businesses Steer Away from "Black Friday" Hype

Independent businesses in Southwest Minneapolis are focusing on quality and service, rather than steep discounts on mass-produced products, to attract customers this holiday season.

While shoppers swarmed to sales at big-box stores across the metropolitan area on so-called "Black Friday," the small, independent businesses of Southwest Minneapolis are taking a different approach. They're banking on their staff's knowledge, higher levels of service and better product quality to mark their niche as we enter the holiday shopping season. The foot traffic in downtown Linden Hills was brisk, but it wasn't out-of-hand. In the Wild Rumpus bookstore, however, scores of people browsed while their children explored the space or pawed at shelves in search of favorite books.
