Photo Gallery: Southwest Girls Gymnastics Takes on South High Rivals

The Southwest High School junior varsity and varsity gymnastics teams competed against South High School.

Southwest High School beat South and Roosevelt High Schools in a varsity gymnastics meet on Wednesday. The Southwest varsity team won by a score of 123.225 to 119.55 The Southwest junior varsity team lost with a score of 88.3 to 96.6. Head Coach Emily Hinds said in an email that Southwest performed well, despite the fact that much of the equipment doesn't match up to standards across the state. "Gymnastics is much more complicated and difficult to learn than the average Olympics-viewer knows," she wrote. "We always appreciate any support we can get—I was happy to see the stands so full last night."
