Multi-City Police Pursuit of Burglary Suspects Ends in Southwest Minneapolis

Officers caught up with and arrested the three suspects' vehicle at 48th and Aldrich, according to Maple Grove police.

A police pursuit of burglary suspects ended with their arrests in Southwest Minneapolis Wednesday after starting in Maple Grove and continuing through Dayton, Champlin, Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center, according to authorities. Officers finally stopped the suspects' vehicle at W. 48th Street and Aldrich Avenue S., Maple Grove Police Capt. Keith Terlinden said. The pursuit was not at high speeds. The incident comes five days after a motorcyclist died in a collision with a Minneapolis police vehicle that was rushing to the scene of a shooting in which two officers were injured and a burglary suspect killed. What Crimes Are Most Prevalent in Your Neighborhood?

Statistics show that violent crime is down in Hennepin County. Tell us what crimes you’re seeing in your community.

According to a recent Hennepin County Sheriff's Office press release, from 2006 and 2012, violent crime in Hennepin County has decreased 37 percent. The FBI says that murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault all make up “violent crime.” The Sheriff’s Office reports that in 2012, the county saw the lowest amount of violent crime in more than two decades. And while violent crimes may be decreasing, Twin Cities residents still see various crimes impact their neighborhoods. In Golden Valley, police recently warned residents about a string of mail thefts. Last January, Minnetonka police alerted homeowners to a rash of burglaries. Business thefts, including an incident that led to a dangerous police chase, have taken place in Eden Prairie. …

Valuable Action Figure Collection Disappears

A roundup of burglaries and other significant incidents in Southwest Minneapolis from Aug. 28 to Sept. 4.

Sept. 4 A resident of the 3900 block of Lyndale Avenue South reported a collection of action figures worth around $1,800 was stolen from his house some time in the last six months. A resident of the 5600 block of Pleasant Avenue South was woken up by loud banging and pounding outside their house around midnight. They discovered several screens had been cut and unknown suspects had tried to pry open two windows. A sign planted in a yard on the 5300 block of Ewing Avenue South was taken, but its stand was left in the ground.
