Patch has what you need to know to enjoy the 2012 Great Minnesota Get-Together.
A full-up political debate between Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) and his Republican challenger Chris Fields forms the big news out of the 2012 Minnesota State Fair on Wednesday. The event will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Minnesota Public Radio booth on the corner of Judson Avenue and Nelson Street, and will be moderated by MPR political editor Mike Mulcahy. Candidates will be answering a mix of questions from the audience and the moderator. Want to research the questions you throw at candidates? Patch has what you need to know to get to the Great Minnesota Get-Together.
As great as the Minnesota State Fair can be, trying to get to the fair can be just awful, and finding parking can be even worse. Good thing there's some cheap parking just to the south and the north of Southwest Minneapolis, in Richfield in Minneapolis' Kenwood neighborhood. Express busses run from the Richfield Best Buy campus and from Kenwood's Parade Ice Garden, with the total cost coming in at just $5 per person. Sign Up For Our Free Newsletter | Follow Us On Facebook Here are some other ways to get to the 2012 Great Minnesota Get-Together that minimize the driving: If you gotta drive: Take 35W north to I-94 east. Exit on Snelling Ave., then turn left and head north. Or take 35E north to I-94 west. Exit on Snelling Avenue, then turn …

Campaign sought to buy television ads.
Campaign staffers working for Chris Fields, the Republican running to unseat Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) in the November elections, decided to get their boss a fairly seasonal gift last week for Fields' Aug. 22 birthday. "What do you get the man who has everything?" asked an announcement posted on Field's website last week. Rather than gunning for a "new tie to replace that pink one we don’t like," Fields' staff opted for a fundraising drive, using the candidate's birthday to try to raise money for a new television commercial for the candidate. There's been no word from the campaign whether their 48-hour drive was successful. First Fields-Ellison Debate Scheduled? Ellison and Fields are planning to square off in their first debate this …

Vegans at the Minnesota State Fair have a lot to contend with if they want to get theirs on a stick like less discriminating fairgoers. Many food stands are filled with meat-this and meat-that, leaving the non-carnivorous stranded when it comes to food outside the International Bazaar. Fortunately, a brave soul has stepped forward to investigate the fair's myriad dining options, seeking the truly vegan food. Over the last several years, food blogger Jenniefer Cortez has assembled a list of her go-to joints at the Great Minnesota Get-Together on her website, Midwest Vaygun. But eating aside, what else is going on? It's Seniors and Kids Day at the fair, and ticket prices are discounted by $3 for those over 64 and under 13. The rides at …

Ask any, I mean any liberal if they are better off than they were four years ago! Ask for a simple yes or no, not a rambling spin answer that they will try to give you to "deflect" the question and answer. They can not and will not answer your question because they know, deep down that Barack Obama, their hero, has failed them.   more ›
