Is your pet Eating Rabbit Droppings?

Eating rabbit droppings is an odd, but not abnormal behavior of animals. Read on to find out more about how this may affect your pet.

Does your dog eat rabbit droppings?  This is a common habit of dogs.  The good news is, that although gross, this generally doesn't cause any problem to the dog.  Occasionally we will see evidence of this behavior when we examine a dog's stool sample.  We can sometimes see a parasite called coccidia, that dog's can get from eating rabbit droppings.  The rabbit form of coccidia doesn't cause infection in dogs.  To read the "Ask Dr. Hershey Article" about dog's eating rabbit droppings, click here:  http://www.westgatepetclinicmn.com/social-media/ask-the-veterinarian.  To learn more about coccidia, go to the front page of our website at westgatepetclinicmn.com.
