Educate for the safety of animals and children

Did you know that millions of people are bit by dogs each year? Children are the most common victims, and the most common site of a dog bite attack is to the face. It is important to educate your children about when it is never safe to pet a dog. Never pet a dog that is tied up, or through a fence or a car window. Never pet a dog that is sleeping or chewing on a toy. Never pet a mother dog with her puppies. Also, never give a dog a big hug and kiss unless you can read the dog's body language and know that he is not anxious or scared. These are situations in which a bite is more likely to occur. At Westgate Pet Clinic, we love dogs and we want children to have a great dog experience. If you would like a Westgate Pet Clinic staff member to educate your youth group on dog bite safety, please call the clinic at 612-925-1121 and ask for the office manager.
