Coccidia is a Very Prominent Parasite, Learn How to Stop the Spread

There are many reasons you should pick up your pets feces when out and about! Not only does it look bad, but it could transmit disease. Read on to find out more information.

Fecal samples screened at Westgate Pet Clinic are positive for coccidia more than any other type of intestinal parasite. The most common type of coccidia that affects cats and dogs belong to the genera Isospora. Isospora species infect the intestines in cats and dogs and can cause a disease called intestinal or enteric coccidiosis. Since Isosporainfections are most commonly transmitted through the fecal-oral route, a crucial part of controlling these infections involves picking up feces promptly.
