Why Does My Dog Eat Grass??

Grass-eating is common in normal dogs. If your dog eats grass and vomits repeatedly or has other signs of illness, call Westgate Pet Clinic.

Warm weather and rain has produced lush lawns in many Twin Cities’ neighborhoods. This may prompt your dog to act like a four-legged lawn mower, mowing down and eating grass. Common ideas about grass eating behavior in dogs are either that it is due to a dietary deficiency or that dogs eat grass to make themselves vomit when they are feeling sick. A survey study conducted by UC-Davis found no link between being fed an unbalanced diet and grass eating behavior and that “grass eating is a common behavior in normal dogs unrelated to illness and that dogs do not regularly vomit afterward.”
