Treated GDV has a 20% to 40% mortality rate. Clinical signs of GDV include: Progressively distended, very hard abdomen that is quite painful; nonproductive retching, hypersalivation and restlessness. Often, the pet may be found recumbent (laying on their side) and unable to rise with a very large, hard abdomen. If any of these signs are observed, call your veterinarian immediately.
