Vacation Planning: Don't Forget About the Dog!
Vacation season for people is kennel cough season for dogs. See wagsandwhiskers.com for info about this highly contagious disease.
Include your dog in your pre-vacation plans. If your dog is going to be boarded at a kennel, call in advance for reservations since kennels may fill up quickly during this vacation season. Also be aware of the kennel’s requirements for boarding. Some kennels require the Bordetella vaccination for kennel cough at least every 6 months. For best immunity, if a Bordetella vaccination booster is needed, it should be scheduled at least 5 days prior to exposure to other dogs.
