Make sure when purchasing treats for your furry friend that the meat used is from the US. Some packaging is misleading. Read on to learn more.

Recently, chicken treats made in China have been shown to be causing kidney toxicity in dogs. Researchers are still trying to identify the toxin. It is very important that you only buy chicken treats for your dogs that are made in the USA, using chickens raised in the USA. BE CAREFUL when reading the label. Sometimes USA will be highlighted on the label, but on closer inspection, it says "packaged or distributed in the USA" At Westgate Pet Clinic, we carry Hills Science Diet chicken jerky treats, as we know that this company uses chickens raised and processed in the United States.
