Learn Science of Music in Linden Hills This Saturday

The Bakken Museum is opening doors for free, and teaching you how to make your own theramin.

Head to the Bakken Museum in Linden Hills this weekend for a rockin' lesson in science.

At this weekend's "Free Second Saturday" event, museum-goers of all ages will get to create their own theramin (a 1920's instrument used to create eerie noises in many sci-fi and horror films), play musical instruments, and listen to music to learn the science behind it all. 

The full schedule:

11am - 2pm: Enjoy the musical stylings of Talking Computron 

11am - 4pm: (Free!) Make & Take a Harmonica made with popsicle sticks!

11am - 4pm: Try your hand at the Glass Armonica!

11am - 4pm: Learn about how instruments work, and then attempt to create your own at the "Make Your Own Instrument" Creation Station

11am - 4pm: Make music in the Electricity Party Room

12pm - 3pm: Class: Create your own Theremin! ($5/kit. Adult supervision is required).

The museum, which overlooks Lake Calhoun near Thomas Beach, is dedicated to the science of electricity and to science education.
