Who are Minnesota's gun owners?
It's estimated that Minnesota has between 2 - 2.5 million legal gun owners. That's over 1/2 of the 18+ population of this state, which means that in a room of 100 people, about 62 of them are potentially gun owners. So next time you're at the local grocery store, take a look around and see if you can guess which 62 of those people are the gun owners.
Also, the state has just surpassed 160,000 carry permit holders. That's about 1 in every 25 people over the age of 21 (the minimum age to obtain a permit-to-carry).
Over half of the state's carry permits are issued to people in the Twin Cities metro counties, and carry permits issued to women in Minnesota increased by 81% in 2012 over the previous year.
