What's Open On Memorial Day In Southwest Minneapolis?

CLOSED

  • City of Minneapolis offices: City offices will resume regular business hours on Tuesday following the holiday. 
  • Garbage/Recycling:  There will be no City of Minneapolis garbage and recycling pick-up on May 28.  Households’ garbage and recycling pick-ups scheduled for May 28 through June 1 will occur one day later (Tuesday through Saturday) than their normal schedule. The Solid Waste and Recycling Customer Service office and the Public Works Transfer Station will also be closed.

  • Parking meter enforcement: All other parking restrictions in the city remain in effect and subject to enforcement, including Park Board meters along Minneapolis parkways, University of Minnesota parking meters and those of private organizations who operate their own meters. Always read the information posted on the meter to be certain.

  • Fire and Police: Minneapolis police and fire emergency services and 911 are not affected. Hats off to them!
  • : The East Harriet burrial ground is hosting a number of events, including at 10:30 a.m. and tours of its , the cemetary's , and .
  • Wading Pools: Hopefully, Sunday's predicted rain will have cleared, letting you and your kids enjoy the Pearl Park and Bryant Square Park pools on Monday. Park Board crews haven't been able to open any more Southwest Minneapolis pools yet, but all will be open by June 6. They don't have lifeguards, though, so keep your eyes peeled if you go!
  • Minnehaha Creek: With recent rains, the creek now has enough water flowing through it to support canoers and kayakers. Hopefully, though, your paddling adventure won't end up like this one—upside down.
