What's Open In Minneapolis On Labor Day?

Some shops, city services on vacation.

For those who don't go on vacation for Labor Day, this weekend is frequently a time to get extra stuff done—back to school shopping, for example.

But that won't work at every store. Some, like Fulton's , were closed Friday, but open Saturday and Sunday. Others have decided to take some vacation themselves, though, so if you're looking to go shopping today, it's best to call the store you want to visit, or check their Facebook page.

There's good news when you do go out, though. The City's parking meters will not be enforced, although all other parking restrictions in the city remain in effect and subject to enforcement, including Park Board meters along Minneapolis parkways, University of Minnesota parking meters and those of private organizations who operate their own meters. Always read the information posted on the meter to be certain.

When it comes to city services, Minneapolis 311 and the Public Works Transfer station will both be closed today. Furthermore, there will be no garbage and recycling pick-up (schedule available online) on Monday, and this week's pick-up schedule will be bumped back a day.

City offices will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
