Thousands without Power in Southwest Minneapolis after Powerful Storms
One of the state's worst outages could leave customers without electricity for days.
The series of summer storms that swept through the Twin Cities left thousands of Southwest Minneapolis residents and businesses without electricity, according to Xcel Energy's online outage map.
It's one of the worst outage events in Minnesota history, according to KARE11 tweets citing Xcel Energy, with 22 percent of the state's customers without power—about 1.2 million households and businesses—and the wait for service to return may be "prolonged" ("Monday or Tuesday").
Xcel's estimate for restoring power for many without it in Southwest is noon on Monday, according to the outage map.
