'Run for the Boom' in Minneapolis' Hot Dam 5K July 3

The 5K is part of Minneapolis' Fourth of July celebration and is a fundraiser for the fireworks fund.

The City of Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board is inviting locals to "run for the boom" during the Hot Dam 5K run at 6:30 p.m. July 3.

The event helps support the Minneapolis Firework Fund for the two-day Minneapolis Red, White and Boom Fourth of July celebration.

Pre-registration has already closed, however, runners can still register on the day of the race starting at 5:30 p.m. at Father Hennepin Bluffs Park. The cost is $40 for adults and $15 for youth ages 11 and under. The run will start at Nicollet Island, 420 Main St. SE.
