'Open Streets—Open Carry' Promises Guns at Pedestrian-Bike Event on Lyndale

People with permits to carry guns plan to 'postitively interact' at Open Streets, according to a Twin Cities Gun Owners & Carry Forum posting.

Gun owners with permits to carry firearms in public are planning a "meet up" at the Open Streets bike-pedestrian event on Lyndale Avenue S. Saturday, June 23, 2013, according to a Twin Cities Gun Owners & Carry Forum posting on Facebook:

These are highly public events that will have large public attendance and media coverage. This is a great opportunity for us to positively interact, so put your best foot forward.

Open Streets extends 20 blocks between 22nd and 42nd, and will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gun-rights group plans to gather at Lyndale Avenue S. and W. Lake Street from 1–3 p.m., according to a Facebook event page that included this description:

Pro-active visibility for law abiding gun owners.

We're taking advantage of meeting up during this series of five "Open Streets" public events, but we're adding our own twist by encouraging "open carry" for pro-active, positive visibility of law abiding gun owners participating in normal social activity... Like normal people!
(NOTE: Be legal. You must have a valid permit-to-carry in order to legally carry a firearm on your person. Open carry is legal in MN with permit-to-carry, no requirement to conceal. Open carry not required, please join us no matter how you carry).

A TCGO greeter will always be at the locations specified below to meet you. We’ll hang out as a group or people can break off and walk, bike, shop, whatever!
