Washburn's girls and boys cross-country running teams competed at the Jaguar All-Terrain Challenge at Hyland Park Reserve in Bloomington on Sept. 29, finishing sixth and ninth, respectively.

Lakers Girls Soccer

The Southwest girls soccer team heads into its regular-season finale this Thursday needing a win over St. Paul Cantral to take a .500 record into the postseason.

After tying Washburn 0-0 in its lone contest last week on Sept. 27, the Lakers currently hold a 4-5-3 overall record and have a chance at claiming at least a share of second place in the final City standings, depending on the outcome of the Millers' conference finale at circuit champion South on Wednesday.

Southwest, 3-1-3 in the City, could overtake Washburn for the runner-up slot if the Millers (3-1-2 in the conference as of Monday) lose to the Tigers.

Millers Girls Soccer

A 0-0 tie versus Southwest and a 2-1 loss to Class A's ninth-ranked Visitation on Sept. 27 and 29, respectively, dropped the Washburn girls soccer team to 6-4-2 overall and 3-1-2 in the City.

Individual statistics were not made available. The Millers will need at least a tie in its last City game at South on Wednesday not to drop into third place in the final conference standings. A loss will drop Washburn behind Southwest and into third place to conclude the circuit slate.

The Millers also play a pair of non-conference games this week to tune up for the postseason, hosting Trinity on Monday night, then closing out the regular-season at Richfield on Thursday evening.

Lakers Boys Soccer

The No. 2 spot in the final City results is secure for the seventh-ranked Southwest boys soccer team as the Lakers logged a 7-1-1 conference mark this season with a 7-0 defeat of Washburn and a 5-5 tie versus Roosevelt on Sept. 27 and 28, respectively.

With one conference game remaining on Tuesday versus Henry, the Lakers are locked into the second position in the concluding standings—1 1/2 games behind South and 2 1/2 games ahead of Washburn.

Southwest also enters October with a 10-2-1 overall record after topping Park of Cottage Grove, 3-1, in a non-conference game on Sept. 30. The Lakers close out the regular season at 10th-ranked Eden Prairie on Friday.

Millers Boys Soccer

Two shutout losses last week—7-0 to Southwest on Sept. 27 and 1-0 to Trinity Sept. 30—dropped the Washburn boys soccer team to 7-5-1 overall and 5-4 in City play.

The Millers have locked up third place in the conference, regardless of the outcome of a Monday night game at Roosevelt. Washburn hosts Prairie Seeds Academy, the top-ranked team in Class A, on Wednesday in the regular-season finale.

As of the last statistical update, through nine game Ben Simpson held the team's scoring lead with 10 goals as Joey Froelich had six goals.

Lakers Volleyball

One conference win and two non-City defeats last week brought the Southwest volleyball team's record to 10-7 overall as the Lakers moved into October.

Losses of 3-1 at Hopkins on Sept. 26 and 3-0 to Woodbury on Sept. 29 sandwiched a 3-0 defeat of Edison on Sept. 26 to give Southwest a perfect 5-0 record in conference play. Individual statistics were not made available.

Millers Volleyball

A forfeit victory at Roosevelt on Sept. 30 was followed by four losses at the Coon Rapids Tournament on Oct. 1 as the Washburn volleyball team brought a 9-6 record into this week.

Individual statistics were not made available. The Millers, second in the City at 4-2 in conference play, play a non-circuit game at Columbia Heights on Tuesday before returning home to take on Henry Thursday night. Washburn is also scheduled to play in the Burnsville Tournament this Friday and Saturday.

Lakers Girls Tennis

The Southwest girls tennis team ended its regular season with a 7-0 defeat of Robbinsdale Cooper on Sept. 30 and take a 10-3 record into the Section 6AA Tournament, which is set to begin on Oct. 10. Individual statistics were not made available.
