Southwest Soccer Scores Third Place
The boys' soccer team beat Maple Grove 3-1 after loosing the semifinal game to Eastview.
The boys soccer team finished up its state tournament run on Thursday with a 3-1 win over Maple Grove in the Class AA third place game.
The Lakers (14-5-1) finished the season with a 2-1 record at this year’s state tournament—their sixth state trip in school history. Southwest took second in 2010.
Southwest opened up scoring at the 6:48 mark of the first half when Ryan Mclean notched an unassisted goal. Mclean scored his second goal of the contest 16 seconds into the second half, making the score 2-0.

Southwest continued to show off its offensive power with a goal by Chico Molina in the 68th minute, making it a 3-0 game.
The Crimson got on the scoreboard with 3:33 to play as Ryan Saladin scored unassisted to make it a 3-1 ballgame.

The Lakers outshot Maple Grove (15-4-2) by a 21-5 margin in the game.
