Novas grounded by Eagles in Quarterfinals

The Minneapolis Novas were overpowered by the Eden Prairie Eagles 8–1 in the Section 6AA quarterfinals on Thursday night at the Eden Prairie Community Center.

The Minneapolis Novas' hope for an upset and deep run into the Section 6AA playoffs was stymied by the highly ranked Eden Prairie Eagles.

The Eagles jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the opening minutes of the first period. The Novas countered with a goal of their own, tying the game with 2:47 remaining in the period.

After that, the game belonged to Eden Prairie.

The Eagles took the lead for good with only 17 second remaining in the period to go into the break leading 2-1. Eden Prairie exploded for six second period goals to put the game out of reach and advance to the Section 6AA semifinals.
