Southwest High School's Lakers football team got off to a hot start with a lopsided 76-8 victory over Edison High School's Tommies on Friday night.
Will Kalberg-Taylor started the scoring for the Lakers with an early interception return for a touchdown. The Lakers' quick scoring offense and dominating defense, which produced two more touchdowns off of turnovers, led to 34 points in the first quarter and a 55-0 lead at half.
The Lakers are now 1-0 on the season while Edison drops to 0-1. The next game for Southwest will be next Friday at Edina High School. The Tommies will play next week at home against North High School's Polars.
