Back-to-School Tips to Make School Fun!

4 tips to help your kids get excited for the 2013-2014 school year!

As the only one of my friends who's excited for school, I'm sad to say that our numbers are decreasing. Most teens my age dread going back to school. Parents, are your kids excited for school? If the answer is no, try these tips to get your kid(s) pumped up for the 2013 - 2014 school year!

1. Set some goals for the school year!
Try setting some goals with your kids for the upcoming school year. If they complete a goal, say "Getting an 'A' in Math", they will be rewarded. (Ex: an iTunes gift card, money, life rewards, etc.) If a child has an incentive, they will work!

2. Go Back-to-School Shopping!
Now, I'm a girl, and most of us love to shop! Take your son/daughter school shopping to get them pumped up for school. Most clothing stores offer great sales beginning in late July into August.

3. Revamp your child's desk!
If your child does their homework on a cluttered, boring desk, they are less likely to focus on their homework. How do I know? It's happened to me. So, as parents, take your kid to Target or Walgreens and buy a few necessities for their desk/work area.

  • pencil cups/organizers
  • a nice lamp that won't burn out
  • inspirational photos (you can even print some out)
  • ask them what they need for their personal learning style
4. Don't Pressure Them!
Kids don't like to be pressured about learning. Encouragement and praise will help your child succeed and do their best!
