Minneapolis Washburn defeated conference rivals Southwest 5-4 on Monday evening.

Southwest was first to score in the bottom of the 1st inning. Washburn answered back in the top of the inning with 3 runs, at the end of the 1st it was 3-1. The Lakers scored two runs in the third to tie it up.

Washburn scored on run in both the 4th and 5th innings. Gearing up for a possible comeback, Southwest was only able to score one run in the 6th inning.

This is the second time the two teams have met this season. Washburn managed to take home the win in the first game too.

Southwest's next game is against Minneapolis South High School Wednesday at Neiman Athletic Complex.

Washburn will play Minneapolis North High School Wednesday at North Commons Park.
