Southside Pride is one of the first community newspapers in Minneapolis to endorse a candidate (or rather three) for mayor.
The newspaper endorsed three candidates since voters can vote for three using ranked choice voting.
Southside Pride endorsed Doug Mann as first choice; Jaymie Kelly as second choice; and Betsy Hodges as third choice for mayor.
"No one is going to get elected mayor on the first ballot," the endorsement reads. "In order to get 50% plus 1, they will have to count the second and third choices. So, this is a good chance to vote your hopes on the first and second ballot and your fears on the third."
In 2006, Minneapolis voters approved a change from traditional balloting to Ranked Choice Voting for municipal elections.
