Ward 13 Candidate Palmisano Announces New Labor Endorsements

Three candidates are vying for one of many open seats on the Minneapolis City Council.

Three prominent labor unions lined up behind Ward 13 city council candidate Linea Palmisano on Thursday.

Palmisano is one of three Southwest Minneapolis residents vying for the city council seat soon to be vacated by Betsy Hodges, who is running to replace Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak. She also commands both Hodges' endorsement and the endorsement of the city DFL party.

In a press release, Palmisano announced she had secured the favor of the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation AFL-CIO, AFSCME Council 5, and the Minneapolis Building Construction Trade. She had also grabbed the endorsement of many city council candidates and the city's firefighters union.

This November, Palmisano will face off against small business leader Matt Perry and former Best Buy executive Missy Durant

We’re excited to support Linea because of her commitment to ensuring Minneapolis’ livability, her visions for growing good, quality jobs, and her passion to make Minneapolis a more connected city,” AFSCME Minneapolis Local 9 President Sarah Maxwell was quoted as saying in Palmisano's written announcement.
