Thissen Tells Nurses Privileged are Capturing Wealth

House Minority Leader Paul Thissen spoke to members of the Minnesota Nurses Association gathered in the Capitol rotunda as part of the MNA's Capitol Day On The Hill Tuesday, the first day of expanded Medicaid coverage for the state.

DFLer Paul Thissen argued that every Minnesotan deserves high-quality health care and said the state budget is balanced on the backs of the middle class at a rally Tuesday by the Minnesota Nurses Association.

The rally marked the first day of expanded Medicaid coverage for the state.

“Everybody in this state, including the wealthiest Minnesotans, ought to participate in responding to the challenges that we’re facing by the state budget and this economy,” said Thissen, who received the MNA’s endorsement for governor early in the race, along with $1,625 in cash and in-kind contributions last year. “Because what’s going on in Wisconsin, and across this country right now, the question before us, in this state, in this country, it’s really a fight that has been brought on, and truly bought by, a privileged few in this country, who are capturing more and more of the wealth and who ought to divide us in order to hold onto us.”
