Rybak Hospitalized After Heart Scare

The former Minneapolis mayor had been cross-country skiing in Theodore Wirth Park.

Just days after leaving office, former Mayor R.T. Rybak was hospitalized with heart problems—a scare he responded to by tweeting poetry shortly after the incident.

“My cardiac surprise/Gave me quite a start/But it proves this politician/Has a great big heart,” Rybak tweeted at 3:31 p.m. Saturday.

Rybak experienced chest pains and shortness of breath after he’d been cross-country skiing about eight miles at Theodore Wirth Park, the Pioneer Press reported. An ambulance took him to the hospital at about 1 p.m.
