Environmental Organizations to Host Minneapolis Mayoral Forum

Candidates will discuss clean energy and other environmental issues.

Those hoping to take Mayor R.T. Rybak's seat this November will be participating in a clean energy forum June 25:

WHO: Minnesota Renewable Energy Society (MRES) and Minnesota Solar Energy Industries Association (MnSEIA), along with MN350, the League of Women Voters, Windustry, Environment Minnesota, the Minnesota Public Interest Research Group, Fresh Energy, the Will Steger Foundation, Cool Planet, Minneapolis Energy Options and the Citizens Climate Lobby.

WHAT: MRES and MNSEIA will host a Mayoral Candidate Forum on the topic of clean energy in Minneapolis. The six leading Minneapolis Mayoral Candidates –Mark Andrew, Jackie Cherryhomes, Betsy Hodges, Don Samuels, Gary Schiff, and Cam Winton – will answer questions from distinguished Minnesota journalist and moderator Don Shelby on the future of energy in Minneapolis.

WHY: With a wide open mayoral race in Minneapolis this year, and several candidates who place green energy at the center of their campaigns, MRES and MNSEIA, along with several democracy and environmental partners, are hosting a forum for the candidates, as a venue to learn more about each candidate’s vision for Minneapolis’ energy future.
