Other facts

I have been involved with MPS for at least 40 yrs.  I helped create South High Open School, served on the original Lake Harriet Open School Council, West Area Parent Advisory Committee, Quality Schools Committee, Standards Committee and the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee, chairing this committee for 8 yrs.  On the budget committee  we advised the board on various issues, monitored and evaluated every department from the superintendent’s office down to the individual schools.  We recommended the establishment and encouraged the budgeting for a long range strategic plan for the district.  By attending many board meetings and retreats I learned how the board made decisions, interacted with the administration and with parents.

We need to all work together, city wide, to make MPS a leader nationwide.
