According to the criminal complaint, compiled by Minneapolis Police Sgt. Joseph Michal, police were called to a home in the 4500 block of France Avenue South on April 3 on an assault report.

The victim told police that he and Odell used to be in a relationship, but that the relationship had ended several years ago, according to the complaint. On April 3, the two had been drinking at a nearby restaurant, and the victim got tired and decided to go home; he told Odell she could sleep at his home, the complaint says.

Odell arrived and the victim let her in. When he told her he wanted to sleep, she became “crazy” and began kicking and hitting him, according to the complaint. The argument intensified, and Odell grabbed a knife from the kitchen and began swinging it at the man, according to Michal’s account.

The victim put up his arms to try to defend himself, and Odell cut his finger and wrist, severing two tendons in his wrist, the complaint says. The victim underwent surgery to repair the injury.

Odell denied assaulting the man, but admitted to police that she was “very intoxicated” and doesn’t have a clear memory of what happened, according to the complaint.

Odell’s criminal record includes convictions for making terroristic threats in 2003, violating a domestic abuse no-contact order in 2010 and domestic assault in 2011.
