Washburn Student Assaults Teacher

A roundup of crimes and incidents reported to the Minneapolis Police Department Mar. 5 and 6.

Mar. 5

A 15-year old Washburn High School student "physically assaulted" one of the school's teacher at 1p.m. The teacher declined medical attention, and the boy was booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police patrolling the 100 block of East 35th Street around midnight stopped a young-looking man who appeared to be out past curfew. The man turned out to be 25, but had an outstanding warrant. The man was booked into the Hennepin County Jail.

A 26-year old man was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on domestic assault charges after police were called to the apartment he shares with his 25-year old girlfriend on the 3500 block of Pleasant Ave South around 8:30 a.m.

A 71-year old man called police to report he lost his wallet on the Number 21 bus near the intersection of Nicollet Ave and 31st Street the day before.

A resident of the 3500 block of Dupont Ave South called police to tell them someone snuck into his apartment building's laundry room the week before and stole his bicycle by cutting off its chain lock.

Mar. 6

A car parked in front of a home on the 5100 block of Queen Ave South was stolen overnight. The car's key had been left in the vehicle

A 13-year old was arrested at a home on the 5300 block of Drew Ave South just before 10 a.m. and booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center on domestic assault charges after he attacked a 50-year old woman also living at that resident with an unspecified weapon. The victim needed no medical treatment.

A retiree from the Armatage neighborhood reported he and his wife had been the victims of identity fraud. Someone managed to skim money from their regular Social Security checks.

A 21-year old Apple Valley man was arrested at the intersection of 31st Street and Nicollet Avenue on an outstanding Dakota County warrant for auto theft.

An unknown person tried to break into a home on the 4400 block of Fremont Ave South around 1:30 p.m. via a rear door. They only managed to damage the door before fleeing.

Police responded to a domestic incident the Aqua City Motel around 9:20 p.m. The nature of the incident was not disclosed in the police report, but a 35-year old woman was taken to the Hennepin County Jail on an outstanding Ramsey County warrant.

A 17-year old child from the 6100 block of Nicollet Ave was cited for running away from home on Mar. 4.

A car parked in the Time Out Studio parking lot was broken into while its owner practiced her asanas around 8 p.m. The thief rifled through the car's compartments and stole the Edina resident's wallet.

Sorry to say that you didn't have good information before moving to Minneapolis. Minneapolis isRead More plagued by crime, caused by the liberal mentality that prevents police from doing their jobs. Minneapolis and Hennepin County needs a strong sheriff, such as Sheriff Joe Arpaio from Arizona, to clean house and really crack down on the criminals that have destroyed vast swaths of Minneapolis.
