Valuable Action Figure Collection Disappears

Sept. 4

A resident of the 3900 block of Lyndale Avenue South reported a collection of action figures worth around $1,800 was stolen from his house some time in the last six months.

A resident of the 5600 block of Pleasant Avenue South was woken up by loud banging and pounding outside their house around midnight. They discovered several screens had been cut and unknown suspects had tried to pry open two windows.

A sign planted in a yard on the 5300 block of Ewing Avenue South was taken, but its stand was left in the ground.

Sept. 3

A camera left on a bench by the Lake Harriet Rose Garden disappeared between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. It is presumed stolen.

A swimmer enjoying Lake Harriet’s north beach between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. had his smartphone stolen. The phone was left wrapped up in a t-shirt while the victim went swimming.

Sept. 2

Two cars on the 5300 block of Minnehaha Parkway West were broken into shortly before noon.

A car parked near the corner of 59th and Grand Avenue was broken into. The thief unsuccessfully tried to pry the stereo off and the trunk open, then spray-painted the number “13” on the car’s hood.

Sept. 1

A person at the Nicollet Avenue Cub Foods was cited for shoplifting.

A 17-year old was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia.

A license plate was stolen off a car parked overnight on the 5200 block of Morgan Avenue South

Aug. 31

A burglar broke into a car on the 4100 block of Lyndale Avenue South Friday evening.

Aug. 30

An unknown smashed a car’s window on the 3200 block of Bryant Avenue South some time between 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 29 and 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 30. Items were missing from the car.

A person exercising at the Blaisdell Avenue YMCA reported their gym locker was broken into and “personal items” were removed.

Burglars struck three homes in Southwest Minneapolis Thursday. One house in Linden Hills, on the 4500 block of Washburn Avenue South had over $1,000 worth of items taken overnight. Another on the 5900 block of Emerson Avenue South in Kenny had its garage broken into between 5:45 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., but the criminals seem to have left without taking anything. Lastly, an Eagan resident staying at a rooming house on the 3100 block of Garfield Avenue South in Lyndale reported that some of his belongings were taken from his room. Method of entry in the Linden Hills case was unclear, but in the other two, the culprits were able to make use of unlocked doors.

Aug. 29

A Kingfield resident reported that a retaining wall was stolen from their property overnight. said their only indication something was awry came from the family dog, who got up in the middle of the night as if he'd heard a strange noise. When the victim awoke at 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 29, they discovered that 10 heavy stone blocks from a small retaining wall had vanished during the night. The resident told police they suspected the thieves had used a truck because of the weight of the stones.

A resident of the 3200 block of Emerson Avenue South reported to police that some unknown suspects, who she suspected were drunk bar patrons walking to their cars, “ripped up” the wooden railings of her front and back steps a few nights ago. She said this was a frequent problem.

A resident of the 1800 block of 49th Street West reported her car’s trunk was broken into and many medical supplies related to her job were stolen.

A 12-year old boy and his mother reported the boy’s bike was stolen some time Wednesday afternoon from the 3100 block of Bryant Avenue South.

A resident of the 5500 block of Irving Avenue South called police after her roommate tackled her on the sidewalk, and threatened to assault her 17-year old son. The roommate was arrested and booked into the Hennepin County Jail for fifth-degree domestic assault.

Aug. 28

Early Tuesday morning, thieves broke into and ransacked cars throughout Kingfield, according to reports filed by officers with the Minneapolis Police Department. Drivers reported GPS devices missing, and the contents of their glove boxes scattered everywhere inside their cars. One car, whose door was accidentally left unlocked, had its dashboard pried apart and its stereo stolen. In most cases, the criminal or criminals gained access to the cars by bashing in windows. A total of ten cars—including five in the same parking lot on Nicollet Avenue—were broken into overnight.

A house on the 3500 block of Irving Avenue South narrowly escaped being burglarized when an unknown man tried to pry  the screen off an open first-floor window sometime between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m.

A bicycle chained to a fence on the 3200 block of Girard Avenue South was stolen overnight. The thief, though, left another stolen bicycle at the scene, perhaps in trade.

A car parked on the 3400 block of Emerson Avenue South was broken into overnight.

A bike locked behind a building on the 4300 block of Bryant Avenue South was stolen after its lock was cut some time in the last week.
