Teenagers Mugged At 38th and Upton

A roundup of traffic, domestic and narcotics-related violations committed in Southwest Minneapolis in the last week.

Two Apple Valley teenagers flagged down police after they were mugged near the intersection of 38th Street and Upton Avenue on May 18. The officers pursued the teens’ alleged assailant on foot and took him into custody. Further details of the case were not available in the police report.

May 21

The identity of a resident of the 5700 block of Oliver Street was fraudulently used to file for unemployment benefits.

May 18

After police pulled over a Minneapolis woman for cutting across three lanes of traffic on the 3200 block of Emerson Avenue, she was cited for driving with a suspended license.

A 4-year-old resident of the 3200 block of Blaisdell Avenue received a bill for $428. The girl’s mother said she had lost her purse and called police to report identity fraud.

May 17

Two teenagers were found with narcotics in Lyndale Park at 2:30 a.m., after park hours.

May 16

Two Minneapolis women were assaulted on the 3100 block of Pillsbury Avenue. Police are investigating possible video evidence.

An Edina man was arrested on the 3800 block of Vincent Avenue after hitting a tree while driving drunk.

May 15

A 28-year-old was arrested for making “lewd gestures” toward a woman on the 4300 block of Nicollet Avenue. 

Until convicted, all persons listed by police as suspected of committing a crime or listed as charged with a crime by county, state, or federal prosecutors should be considered innocent.
