After a winter at rest, plant thieves are striking the Linden Hills neighborhood again this year.

A handful of neighborhood gardens were devastated by one or more shrubbery bandits on multiple occasions last summer. Patio furniture was also stolen.

Resident Abby Rutchick, who was one of the victims last year, has taken to Patch, making announcements and a blog post in an attempt to bring more neighbors together to try and catch the plant snatchers. Another resident told Patch her yard has been hit this year, too.

In a recent post, Rutchick said she and her fellow neighbors and gardeners want to put a stop to the destruction:

Hi Are you finding empty holes where plants, shrubs or flowers once were? Have you been a victim of the Linden Hills garden thieves in 2012 or 2013? Are you tired of seeing your work, your dollars, and your passion go down the drain? If you have any information that could help your neighbors find this woman and her friends that strike in the middle of the night. Please let us know. We can divide and conquer and eliminate this problem. I know i would rather work in my garden than write blog posts about getting my plants stolen.

In another post, she asks that other neighbors join the cause:

Have you had your garden plants stolen this summer or last summer? We are a group of linden hills gardeners that have had our plants stolen several times. We are tired of this and we are not getting any help from the police or anyone else. Let us know if you have had your plants taken. Let us know if you have any information that could help us find these thieves that keep robbing us of our plants. Please contact asrutchick@comcast.net so we can add you to the movement to stop this frustrating problem.

Have you been the victim of a plant pirate? Tell us your story below.
