Police Seeking "Person Of Interest" In Kyle's Market Attacks

Police: Attacks may be motivated by bias against owners.

One day after for anyone who could lead them to the man behind five violent attacks on two East Harriet businesses, the Minneapolis Police Department released photos of a man they are calling a "person of interest" in the case.

MPD spokesperson Sergeant William Palmer said investigators believe the man to be "a heavy-set white male, between five feet 10 inches and six feet two inches tall and between 275 and 300 pounds. He appears to have a large 'pot-belly.'"

Around 4:00 a.m. on June 12, a man with a handkerchief over his nose and mouth and a knit hat pulled low over his forehead bludgeoned the windows of and on the corner of 36th and Bryant. Nothing was taken from either business, according to owner Joe Liu. The businesses have been hit a total of five times this year.

Police say they think the vandal "may be targeting these businesses due to the cultural origin of the owners."
