Police Scuffle With 16-Year Old Shoplifter

A roundup of crimes and incidents reported to the Minneapolis Police Department on Oct. 13 and 14.

Shortly before 11 p.m. on Oct. 13, a 16 year-old tried to steal an unknown number of items from the Windom Cub Foods.

When an officer with the Minneapolis Police Department told the young woman that her mother would be told that she had been caught shoplifting, the young woman fled on foot. The officer gave chase, and managed to catch her. At that point, according to a report filed with the Minneapolis Police Department, the young woman “used physical force” in an attempt to escape. Despite this, the officer managed to handcuff her after forcing her to the ground.

The young woman was cited for shoplifting and transported to the Juvenile Supervision Center, as it was after curfew.
