16-Year-Old Caught Shoplifting Rum From France 44 Liquor Store

A roundup of burglaries and other property crimes committed in Southwest Minneapolis during the last week.

June 11

A woman reported to police that someone had stolen and used her credit card.

A 16-year-old was cited for shoplifting after she attempted to steal a bottle of rum from the France 44 liquor store.  

A 84-year-old woman reported that some pots were stolen while she slept at her home on the 4900 block of Colfax Avenue.


June 10

A resident of the 5100 block of Irving Avenue reported that $20 was stolen from her son-in-law’s vehicle, which was parked in front of her home. She also reported that her vehicle—which was parked in the driveway—had been gone through, but was not damaged or stolen.

June 9

A man reported a burglary to his unattached garage on the 5500 block of Wentworth Avenue.

A wallet was stolen from an unlocked car on the 4900 block of Dupont Avenue.

June 8

A man reported that his car window was smashed on East Lake Harriet Parkway. A purse belonging to a 17-year-old woman was taken from the car.  

A 32-year-old female reported damage to her property on the 3700 block of Grand Avenue.

A 70-year-old woman reported that the rear driver’s side door window had been broken on her vehicle overnight.

A 58-year-old woman living on the 6000 block of Morgan Avenue reported money missing from her purse after having had work done inside her home that day.

June 6

A 13-year-old woman reported the theft of a cell phone on the 5700 block of Irving Avenue.

A 20-year-old man reported seeing an unknown suspect drawing graffiti art on the sides of his apartment building on the 100 block of 33rd Street. Police canvassed the area but the suspect could not be located.   

The vehicle of a resident of the 5000 block of Stevens Avenue was damaged and items were stolen.

A bicycle was stolen from behind the apartment of a resident of the 3500 block of Emerson Avenue.

June 5

A bicycle was stolen from the attached garage of a home on the 5300 block of Russell Avenue.

A bike was stolen from the garage of a home on the 5000 block of Lyndale Avenue.

A 10-year-old's bike was stolen from Martin Luther King Park.

A garage on the 4200 block of Stevens Avenue was burglarized overnight.
