Police Blotter: Bulbs in Security Lights Are Loosened

This blotter covers only a fraction of police reports filed in Southwest Minneapolis from April 4-11. All details come from Minneapolis Police Department reports.

April 5: A man on the 3500 block of Aldrich Avenue looked out a window when he heard a noise, only to see a man taking shovels from his driveway. The thief drove off with the shovels.

April 5: A 55-year-old woman took her mother-in-law for a walk during a visit to Walker Methodist Nursing Home. She left her purse under her jacket during th 15-minute walk. She discovered two days later that her wallet was gone. 

April 6: A car was broken into on the 4900 block of Nicollet Avenue. The thief had loosened the security lights in front of the house so they wouldn't respond to motion.

April 7: A house on the 4900 block of Garfield was burglarized the night before.

April 8: A vehicle parked on the street on the 5600 block of Wentworth Avenue was stolen between 5-10 p.m.

April 10: A home on the 6000 block of Penn Avenue was burglarized between 3-6:30 p.m.

April 10: Someone broke into a garage on the 3700 block of Colfax Avenue overnight. The thief damaged the driver and passenger windows of the parked car and stole an Ipod.  

April 10: A detached garage on the 4000 block of Pillsbury Avenue was broke into overnight. The intruder broke windows in both cars, although nothing was missing from either car.

April 10: Two people attacked a 21-year-old woman and stole her person on the 3500 block of Nicollet Avenue. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance.

April 10: One security light was smashed and the other was unscrewed outside a house on the 5100 block of Lyndale Avenue. The victim reported that they called police because a car down the street had been broken into only a few days before (there was a similar incident on the 3900 block of Nicollet Avenue earlier in the week).

April 10: A house on the 6000 block of Penn Avenue was burglarized in the evening.

April 11: Sagat Architects at 4159 Grand Avenue was broken into over the weekend. Some items were taken, although there are no suspects.

April 11: A car parked in an alley driveway off the 5100 block of Lyndale Avenue had its window smashed in the late evening. The burglar pulled the trunk latch, which set off the car alarm, alterting neighbors.
