Police Blotter: Curfews Enforced for Minors

This blotter covers only a fraction of police reports filed in Southwest Minneapolis from June 10-15. All details come from Minneapolis Police Department reports.

June 10:  A 19-year old Minneapolis woman was booked on DWI charges. The woman had collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle near the intersection of West 55th Street and Fremont Avenue South, in the Kenny neighborhood. The incident happened at around 3:00 a.m.

June 12: In Fulton, officers were dispatched to the intersection of West 49th Street and Drew Avenue South on report of a bicycle accident. A Minneapolis man, 27, was cycling eastbound on 49th Street when he struck the driver's side door of a vehicle at around 10 p.m. He admitted to not having a light and running a stop sign. The man did not sustain serious injuries.

June 12: In Armatage, a vehicle disappeared, a Minneapolis woman reported to police. She had parked her vehicle on the 5700 block of Xerexes Avenue South. When the woman, 21, returned the next day it was gone. She called the police, who discovered her vehicle had been towed. The police report says her car had been parked legally.

June 12: Park agents observed a 51 year-old Plymouth man urinating on park property near Lake Harriet. He was cited and released.

June 12: Officers arrested a 29 year-old Minneapolis man on narcotics charges in Windom, on the 6000 block of Nicollet Avenue South. The man admitted having a personal bag of marijuana in his pocket. Officers discovered three bags and charged him with a petty misdemeanor.  The man also had three different identifications and police charged him with giving false information, a gross misdemeanor. Officers booked the man--who had a felony warrant out for his arrest--in Hennepin County Jail. Hennepin County Jail records show the felony warrant was for possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree. His bail was set at $500 and the man was released Wednesday, according to jail records.

June 12: Two Iowa women discovered a purse stolen from their vehicle parked on the 2600 block of 44th Street West, in Linden Hills. Upon returning from a walk around Lake Harriet, the women discovered the passenger window had been smashed. The incident occurred between 7-9:45 p.m. 

June 12: On the 4300 block of Nicollet Avenue South, in Kingfield, police cited a Minneapolis man, 84, with a misdemeanor for rummaging through garbage cans that were not his.

June 13: An unknown suspect keyed a vehicle overnight on the 2600 block of 43rd Street West, in Linden Hills.

June 14: A foreclosed property on the 5800 block of Blaisdell Avenue South, in Windom, was burglarized. An unknown suspect entered the premises without permission and removed more than $400 worth of remodeling equipment.

June 14: A trailer went missing from a driveway on the 400 block of 50th Street West, in Tangletown. Police have no suspects.

June 14: Just before midnight, police cited two juvenile females, 12 and 14, for violating curfew on the 5400 block of Nicollet Avenue South, in Tangletown. Police dropped the girls off with a parent. According to Hennepin County, it's unlawful for juveniles aged 12-14 to be present within any public place or establishment in the county between 10 p.m.-5 a.m. on weekdays and between 11 p.m.-5 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. For anyone under 12, curfew starts at 9 p.m. on weekdays and 10 p.m. on weekends. For anyone 15-17, curfew starts at 11 p.m. on weekdays and 12:01 a.m. on weekends. 

June 14: In Linden Hills, on the 2000 block of Upton Avenue South, police arrested a Minneapolis man for indecent conduct. They booked and charged the man, 54, on a gross misdemeanor. 

June 14: A fire broke out in the morning on the 4200 block of Garfield Avenue South, in Kingfield, states a police report. A Minneapolis Fire Department official said it was a vehicle fire and there were no injuries, as the vehicle was unoccupied.

June 15: A Kingfield woman, 25, was victim of credit card fraud. She said she gave her credit card number to an eye care clinic over the phone to purchase contacts. On the same day, she noticed four unauthorized transactions on her card and her account automatically froze without her knowledge. Her bank had frozen her account. Representatives from the eye care clinic told the woman that they could not confirm or deny whether it was liable for the unauthorized charges.
