Police Nab Suspected Tangletown Burglar
The accused 22-year-old was arrested only blocks from his home.
Responding to a Tangletown resident's report of a burglary, Minneapolis police on Friday night arrested 22-year-old Edward Blake.
According to a Hennepin County criminal complaint, a local resident identified as "E.C." called police around 10 p.m. Friday after a young man asked E.C. for directions, then tried the handle on a car parked nearby, and finally entered a house through an unlocked back door, on 49th Street between Harriet and Grand avenues.
The house's residents, who were home at the time but in the basement. The complaint says the purse's owner heard the back door open and yelled "Hello" when she didn't hear any voices. When she came upstairs, she found the back door open and her purse missing from a spot near the door, but saw no one else in the house. Her purse held a debit card, cash and other items.

Police say officers came across Blake, also a Tangletown resident, as he crouched behind a dumpster. In his jacket, they found cash and a bank card with the name of the purse's owner.
County attorneys have charged Blake with one count of first-degree burglary, which carries a potential sentence ranging from six months to 20 years behind bars and a fine of up to $35,000.
