Midnight Thief Steals Retaining Wall From Kingfield Home

A roundup of burglaries, thefts, and other crimes in Southwest Minneapolis on Aug. 29 and Aug. 30.

In an episode more reminiscent of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego than Dragnet, a Kingfield resident contacted police earlier this week to report part of their retaining wall was missing, presumed stolen.

According to a report filed by officers with the Minneapolis Police Department, the resident said their only indication something was awry came from the family dog, who got up in the middle of the night as if he'd heard a strange noise. When the victim awoke at 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 29, they discovered that 10 heavy stone blocks from a small retaining wall had vanished during the night.

The resident told police they suspected the thieves had used a truck because of the weight of the stones.
