Feb. 12
A car parked on the 5800 block of Colfax Ave South and another parked on the 5800 block of Bryant Ave South were broken into overnight.
A resident of the 5100 block of Nicollet Ave South told police his tools, missing for two weeks, were likely taken by his landlord or a previous roommate.

Feb. 13
A 38-year old Kingfield man was robbed at gunpoint on the 4600 block of Bryant Ave South just before 10 a.m. The suspect made a clean getaway before police could arrive. A Minneapolis police spokesperson told Patch that this mugging was unrelated to the other two—on the East 46th Street bridge across Interstate 35-W and near the Penn Ave bridge across Minnehaha Creek—were unrelated to each other.

Thieves struck two cars parked behind businesses at 50th and France around 8 p.m.
A Time Out Studios patron lost her car window and a gym bag to a thief around 7:30 p.m. The criminal forgot to take the victim's GPS device when they fled, however. Another patron lost her purse to a thief at about the same time.
Feb. 14
Burglars kicked down the door of a home on the 5500 block of Emerson Ave South around 11 p.m. No information is available on the stolen items.
Police booked an 18-year old man from the 5500 block of Irving Ave South into the Hennepin County Jail for Fifth-Degree Domestic Assault. The man allegedly put a 36-year old woman in a headlock and threw her down the stairs. The victim refused medical treatment at the scene.
Feb. 15
Police raided an apartment on the 3300 block of Colfax Ave South and arrested the 31-year old resident on narcotics charges, along with a 46-year old Fresno, CA man and a 21-year old Edina man.
Thieves broke into a van parked on the 4200 block of Nicollet Ave South overnight, stealing a set of tools.
Feb. 16
Scammers hoodwinked a Kenny man, convincing him to wire them a $400 deposit on a house he wanted to rent using a false online ad. The house was indeed for rent, but the real owner was asking for $1,000 more per month than the scammers had indicated.
A 35-year old man from the 100 block of West 37th Street was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on domestic assault charges. The man required medical treatment after his arrest, the police report notes.
Feb. 17
Police cited a taxi driver for refusing to run a Linden Hills couple's credit card once he dropped them off at home around 1 a.m. Taxis in Minneapolis are now required to take credit cards.
Just before 4 a.m., police rescued a dog from a freezing car parked on the 6100 block of Knox Ave South, thanks to a tip from an anonymous neighbor. According to the police report, when officers arrived, they saw the short-haired dog sitting on a blanket in the back seat, shivering pathetically. Frost covered parts of the car's windows, and had gathered on the backs of the dog's ears. Taking quick action, they jimmied the car window open and pulled the dog out. The pup was left in the care of a nearby house after police could not make contact with the dog's registered owner, listed as a 24-year old Prior Lake man.
Thieves stole metal light fixtures off the garages of houses on the 2700 block of West 47th Street and the 4600 block of West Lake Harriet Parkway.
Feb. 18
A 37-year old Richfield man was booked into the Hennepin County Jail for driving drunk just before 2:30 a.m.
A jerk struck and damaged a car parked on the 3500 block with his or her car during the night, and drove off without leaving contact or insurance information.
Burglars broke into a home on the 3300 block of Dupont Ave South around 4 p.m. Police arrived shortly thereafter, thanks to a security system, but the culprits had vanished by the time police arrived.
A house on the 200 block of West 36th Street was burglarized around 6:15 p.m.
A resident of the 5100 block of Harriet Ave South reported someone had tried to rip the motion-activated security lights off his garage wall while he was out picking his daughter up from basketball practice. Burglars had struck the garage twice in the last year and a half.
Around 2 a.m., thieves made off with a handgun from a car parked on the 4500 block of Nicollet Ave South. The gun's owner told police he kept it underneath the driver's seat.
